Makar Sankranti Celebration by Montessori Students
The Montessori students joyfully celebrated Makar Sankranti, marking the harvest festival with vibrant enthusiasm and cultural charm. The event was a beautiful amalgamation of learning, fun, and tradition, designed to teach young learners about the significance of this auspicious festival.
The celebration began with a brief explanation of the festival’s importance, highlighting its association with the harvest season, gratitude, and the transition of the sun into the Capricorn zodiac (Makara Rashi). Teachers narrated engaging stories to make the concept relatable for the little ones.
The Montessori and grade1 and 2 students participated in various festive activities, such as: Kite-Making and Pot decoration: Grade 1 and 2 Children made colorful kites and painted pots with vibrant colours thus alos learned about the tradition of flying kites during Sankranti Traditional Attire Parade: Dressed in ethnic outfits, the children added a cultural touch, symbolizing the essence of the festival.
The event concluded with a distribution of traditional sweets like sesame, dry coconut and jaggery reinforcing the idea of sharing joy and spreading sweetness. The celebration offered a delightful blend of tradition and learning, leaving the children with cherished memories and a deeper understanding of India’s rich cultural heritage.
